Spotlight Story - Girls Scouts Gold Award, Brianna Corrie

A number of Bishop Lynch High School Girl Scouts from Troops 1562, 2432 and 1433 have been working extremely hard on their Gold Award projects. Each week, we will cast the spotlight on one of these stellar young ladies and recognize them for their incredible effort by letting them tell their story.

“My project involves promoting literacy and the enjoyment of reading for people in difficult situations, including children under the care of Child Protective Services, and for people living in homeless and domestic abuse shelters, military veterans, etc.  I created a Literacy Club at Bishop Lynch to focus on various literacy advocacy projects, conducted book drives through St. Thomas Aquinas Church and the Lakewood neighborhood collecting over 2,500 books to date. We’ve donated 210 new books to children under CPS care through coordination with Community Partners of Dallas, donated 250 leveled chapter books for the reading center at Truett Elementary, a low-income school; coordinated with Reading Partners to conduct training for high school students to provide one-on-one tutoring with struggling second and third grade students at Truett Elementary and created a schedule to staff tutors each week to these children throughout the school year. Our Literacy Club plans to provide bean bag chairs to the Truett Reading Center to create a more comfortable reading environment and we plan to continue collecting and donating books to various groups, including children in Guatemala through a mission trip.” — Brianna Corrie, Sophomore

Friar Friends Rosary

Rosary with Mary

As Lent begins, please join us to pray the rosary for our Bishop Lynch Community next Friday, March 3rd. We will begin after the 7:40 a.m. Mass in the chapel. Thank you also to Mr. Rebuck for inviting us to a continental breakfast afterward in the Bistro!

"Lent is like a long 'retreat' during which we can turn back into ourselves and listen to the voice of God..." -- Pope Benedict XVI

Lent Guidelines

On Ash Wednesday we hear the call to "return to the Lord with your whole heart" and through prayer, almsgiving (acts of charity), and fasting (self-denial) we move closer to being the people God intends us to be.  Lent is a time when we can focus on God and on love of neighbor.  These guidelines are provided to help us make the most of this blessed season.

Calling all Artists and Art collectors!

We are gathering better and fine art for the Lone Star Auction. Would you please consider donating to this very worthy cause?

For Artists – this is an excellent way to get exposure and be seen! Our guests at this event are looking for wonderful additions to their personal collections.
For collectors – do you have anything you would consider donating? Perhaps you have moved and downsized, or simply do not have the perfect space for “something fabulous” anymore. We would love to use your donations to build our Bishop Lynch scholarship fund. Various mediums are gratefully accepted.
