Wrestling 16-17 group pic

Congratulations to BL’s Wrestling Team!!

Bishop Lynch wrestlers hit a milestone last weekend, winning the first prep state duals title in BL wrestling history and going unbeaten in duals on the way to the top.

The Friars won consecutive duals against Kincaid, St. Thomas and St. Marks to clinch a place in the championship bracket. Once there, Bishop Lynch topped Liberty Christian and host St. John's in the championship.

In the semifinal, Liberty went ahead by as many as 11 points with just two matches to go, meaning the Friars would need to win both by pin to advance. BL delivered by pinning opponents to give BL a 40-39 win. In the final dual, the lower weights came up big and helped the Friars jump out to a 27-0 lead. St. John's charged back and closed the gap to a single point, but BL sealed the victory by a 39-32 final score.

Six wrestlers from BL went undefeated during the tournament! The victory was a true example of a "team win," as each participant contributed to the outcome.

A Huge Thank you to our BL Students and our BL Alumni Advisory Board

For the second year, the Bishop Lynch Alumni Board and Bishop Lynch High School have joined efforts to sponsor families through the Catholic Charities Christmas Angel Project. Together we sponsored 25 families. 82 children and 60 adults. Each child received 2 gifts for a total of 164 children’s gifts and the Alumni provided gifts for  60 adults from these families.  Our efforts were a great success and all gifts were picked up on December 12 and taken to the CC Marillac Center were the distribution of gifts took place on Sunday, December 17.  At the Center many caring and giving ladies spent their days organizing all the gifts as they came into the center. The gift of their time and talent made this year’s Angel Gift Distribution the biggest on record - well over 5000+ gifts to over 1200 families who were able to celebrate this wonderful holiday with greater joy due to the efforts of so many.  Way to go Friars!
