Welcome! This is my thirteenth year to teach math at BL. I currently teach AP/Adv. Calculus AB, AP/Adv. Calculus BC, Honors Calculus III, Honors Linear Algebra, ICM/Honors Algebra II, and Adv. Algebra II. My undergraduate studies in mathematics occurred at Eastfield College, Denison University (Ohio), and Texas A & M University, Commerce. My graduate work in mathematics was done at Texas State University in San Marcos, The University of Texas at Dallas, and Texas A & M University at Commerce.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Denison University, Ohio, and a Master of Music Degree from Texas A & M University, Commerce. Except for the dissertation, I completed a Ed. D. program of studies in Supervision, Curriculum, and Instruction in the Community College with a minor in Music at Texas A & M University, Commerce, successfully passing three days of comprehensive written exams.
In addition to a Texas Provisional Lifetime Teaching Certificate in Secondary Mathematics, I hold both a Texas Provisional and a Texas Professional Lifetime Teaching Certificates in All-Level Music as well as a Colorado Professional Teaching Certificate with Endorsements in Secondary Mathematics and Music. I received a Texas Certificate in Talented and Gifted Education for completing thirty hours of talented and gifted training.
When I began teaching math at BL in 2003, I was also hired as an Adjunct Math Professor at Eastfield College in order that advanced BL math students might receive dual credit for taking such classes as College Algebra, Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, and Linear Algebra.
Since the fall of 2004 I have been the moderator of Mu Alpha Theta (the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society). I coordinate the math contests at BL, administering, grading and reporting the results of 26 math contests each year. Every year approximately 30% of BL students participate in after-school math contests. I am also the Math Department Representative to the Curriculum Committee.
