CLEP EXAMS

Procedure:

CLEP exams are offered at SMU and Eastfield. Contact Lori Krone @ 214-768-2269 in the SMU Testing Center for details. CLEP is administered year-round at SMU at 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM by appointment. Registration forms can be printed off the web and faxed or mailed. http://smu.edu/healthcenter/counseling/ct_CLEP_Reg_Form.asp

If a BL student is dual enrolled through Eastfield, they may sit for a CLEP exam at that campus. Students should check with Sharron Wagoner at Eastfield for further information @972-860-7024. http://www.eastfieldcollege.edu/ari/testing.asp

Prerequisite:

There are no prerequisites to take a CLEP test. However, a student must have a previous college level transcript in order to get the earned CLEP credit transcripted or must send the CLEP scores directly to their post BL university.

Price:

Approximately $95 per CLEP Exam.

Potential
  Transfer Credit:

Credit(s) earned by means of CLEP exams need to be requested through the CLEP program (College   Board). Copies of scores will then be forwarded to the colleges listed by the students. Students may choose to take CLEP Exams for courses such as advanced/college classes in a foreign language, science, math, English, etc. http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html

Purpose:

Students who are dual enrolled may take CLEP tests at Eastfield College. Because the student is dual enrolled, Eastfield will transcript credit earned from a successful CLEP test. Not only does this provide tremendous opportunities for students to meet prerequisite requirements for higher level courses dual enrolled at BL, but also offers the potential for them to take higher level coursework at a four year university. Each university determines whether or not to accept CLEP credit and this information can be found on their websites.
