I am delighted to return to BL for my sixth year teaching Junior Theology!
Prior to my arrival in the Lone Star State I taught at Connelly School of the Holy Child, an independent, all-girls Catholic high school in Potomac, MD. While at Holy Child I taught World Religions, Morality, Ecclesiology, Christology, Questions in Theology, and Liturgy and Sacraments. I began my teaching career in my native New Jersey at Paramus Catholic High School where I taught Freshmen, Juniors, and Seniors in courses ranging from Fundamentals of Catholicism to Faith and Media. I am also a published author and commentator, having written for Celebrate Life Magazine and Busted Halo.
Before enterting the world of education I worked for five years in the field of television production and writing. This career arc took me all around the country as a field producer. Based in New York, I worked for such programs as Good Day New York, A Current Affair, and Home Delivery. Additionally, I worked as a freelance producer on several projects including my own pilot.
I have attended numerous workshops and seminars in my time as a teacher with topics as diverse as "Executive Functions and Teaching" and "Understanding the Children of Abraham", as well as the NCEA National Convention.
In June of 2014 I completed my MS in Educational Leadership and Administration (School of Education Honors Recipient) from Drexel University (Philadelphia) and was accepted into Kappa Delta Pi, the National Education Honors Society. In the field of education I have been priveleged to serve as a mentor to new teachers at BL and student teachers from the University of Dallas and have received CITI certification, qualifying me to both conduct and interpret university-level research. In Spring 2016 I was inducted into Theta Alpha Kappa, the Honors Society for Theology and Religious Studies for my contribution as a teacher within the discipline. For this I am very humbled and honored.
The fourteenth child in a family of sixteen, I was born and raised in New Jersey. Family is my life and God has blessed me abundantly. But most of all, I am the proud father of Benedict Fulton (Benny, age 8) and Margherita Teresa (Rita, age 6). My magnificent wife, Karla, and I live in Irving where we are parishioners of Holy Family of Nazareth where I am a daily mass-goer and lector/cantor/Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Mrs. Hester and I are privileged to serve as members of the Parish Pastoral Council and on several subcommittes ranging from building/facilities to school marketing. I enjoy traveling, having visited 42 states on numerous road trips and frequently travel between Texas and "the Fatherland" (AKA: New Jersey) to visit my parents and siblings. In my spare time I enjoy writing/blogging, working out, and imagining what spare time is like.
