Welcome! My name is Michele Longoria and I am entering my 18th year a a teacher/coach here at Bishop Lynch High School.
I was born in Acton, Massachusetts, but moved to Dallas when I was only several months old. I attended St. Bernard's Elementary School and Bishop Lynch as a freshman. I have four siblings who are BL graduates: Maria '76, Joe '77, Jeff '79 and Theresa '80. My brother James and I transferred to and graduated from Lake Highlands High School where we graduated in 1983. At Lake Highlands I was involved in many clubs and played basketball. My senior year I earned District 1-5A honors and was also award the LHHS Sportsmanship Award.
I attended Texas Christian University where I played for the Lady Frogs basketball team my freshman and sophomore years in college. I transferred to the University Of North Texas and played for the Lady Eagles as well, where I was a member of the 1986 Southland Conference champions. At North Texas, my true passion for communications became a reality as I served as a writer, page editor and managing editor of the North Texas Daily. I was also a news anchor for KNTU radio. I graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism (Broadcasting emphasis) and a minor in Political Science. After graduation, I spent seven years in advertising where Texas Instruments was my primary client. I was responsible not only for business-to-business corporate market communications, but also I served as editor of several in-house magazines which were international communication tools for many of TI's business including Industrial Automation, Defense Systems and Semiconductor Groups.
In 1995- 96, the opportunity presented itself for me to join the Bishop Lynch community and I have never looked back! How blessed I am to be able to work with the incredible young men and women at Bishop Lynch.
I advise all realms of Bishop Lynch's student communications including Broadcasting I, II and III. These classes are responsible for the productions of BLLive, BL's daily live news and announcement program; Across Campus, BL's weekly news feature magazine and numerous special television and broadcasting requests from the community.
I am also the adviser for The Ledger, BL's student newspaper and Veritas, BL's award-winning and nationally recognized 350+ page all-color yearbook.
I am also proud to be a part of the Bishop Lynch Lady Friars girls basketball program. I am the head coach for the JV team and a varsity assistant working under Head Coach Andy Zihlman. Coach Zihlman was in his first year of coaching at BL my freshman year and coached me on the JV team!
I have three beautiful children: Reese, 14 and BL class of 20I6, Clare, 12, and Nicholas 7.
