Joan Lynch Bell '66
Served in the United States Army in the following ways: 1. Active Duty September 1968-Dec 1969 - student program while completing a BS in Occupational Therapy at Texas Woman's University. 2. Active duty Jan 1970-Dec 1973 as an officer in the Army Medical Specialist Corps where she served as an Occupational Therapist at Letterman Army Medical Center - San Francisco, Ca.; Madigan Army Medical Center - Tacoma, Washington and finally Tripler Army Medical Center - Honolulu, Hi. 3. Army Reserve Hospitals in various Texas locations Jan 1974 - Dec 1994 4. Army Reserve Mobilization designee to the assistant chief OT section of the Army Medical Specialist Corps - Headquarters Ft. Sam Houston TX. Jan 1994 until her retirement in July 1996. Entered as a PFC while in a student program. Her final rank was Lieutenant Colonel. Joan is a charter member of the Women in Military Service Museum and a photo and basic information is electronically filed there. She has continued to serve as a member of the Association of the United States Army, the American Legion, the Retired Officer's Association and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Served in the Army from January 15, 1968 to January 1970. Vietnam from October 1968 to October 1969.Vietnam Commendation Medal discharged honorably as an Specialist E-5.
Christopher Rankin '66
Christopher J Rankin, EMCM, USN, Retired. November 8, 1968 to June 30, 1989 US Navy.
Gregory Aaron '67
Lt Col G. J. Aaron served his country for 20+ years in the USAF, from 1971 to 1991. He was an Instructor Pilot in the T-38 and T-37 and KC-135. He led his unit in support of Desert Shield/Storm and several smaller conflicts.
Anna Flores Ohlson '67
Served in the United States Navy in active duty from Aug 1968 to Jan 1972. Also, I was in the Naval Reserve. The only medal I received during my service was for Marksman.
Kenneth Wetsel '67
Served in the US Army from 1969-1971. Served in Vietnam June 1969 - June 1970 with 25th Infantry Division Commendations: Two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, Two Unit Citations, Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Sgt. James Harwood '68†
Gave the ultimate sacrifice – Killed in Action on January 15, 1971 during the Vietnam War. James Arthur Harwood was a Sergeant in the United States Army when he went Missing In Action in South Vietnam on 15 January 1971.
Janet Rasmussen Hargrave '69
Served in the Army's 3rd Infantry Division from May of 1974-1976 and was stationed in Wurzburg, Germany. She was awarded the National Service Defense Medal (NSDM) as a Vietnam Era Veteran. Janet was a Specialist 4th Class and a Drug/Alcohol counselor as well as a field medic.
Col. Steve Nugent '69
Served in the US Air Force from Feb 1974 to Aug 2000. Retired as a Colonel. Received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, 5 Air Force Meritorious Service Medals, 5 Air Force Commendation Medals, the Air Force Marksmanship Medal, as well as several unit awards.
Bruce Eckenrode '70
Entered the USAF in March 1971 and retired as a Master Sergeant (MSgt) in October 1991. He is a proud Vietnam Vet and also served in Grenada and Desert Storm (Gulf War I). Medals/awards received include the U.S. Air Force Master Aircrew Wings, U.S. Air Force Combat Aircrew Badge, U.S. Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, 5 U.S. Air Force Air Medals, 3 U.S. Air Force Commendation Medals, U.S. Navy Commendation Medal, U.S. Air Force Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross With Device, and Southwest Asia Service Medal.

Served in the U S Air Force from 1970 to 1996 MSGT Retired.
Roy Smith '70
Served in the U S Army from Sep 1971 to Sep 1975 Expeditionary Force - Korea '72-'73 NDSM, GCM & AFEM.
Patrick Rupel '71
Commissioned as second lieutenant in 1975 from the U.S. Air Force Academy. Served five years as an instructor pilot in the German Air Force pilot training program, separated from the Air Force for seven years, then rejoined active duty, and again served as an instructor pilot in the USAF program. Served in Operations NORTHERN WATCH, SOUTHERN WATCH, and IRAQI FREEDOM as an E-3 chief pilot, operations officer, and deployed squadron commander. Retired from the Air Force Reserve in 2013 with over 30 years of service.
Maria Del Carmen Ferrer-Mirales '72
Was an Army SGT in the Women's Army Corps (WAC- the women's branch of the US Army until disbanded in the summer of 1978). She was on active duty from January 1974 to November 1978.
Bruce Lenzer '74
Served in the US Air Force Auxiliary for domestic and military Search & Rescue as well as performed Special Operations with joint agencies. Served from 1992 – 2005. USAF Auxiliary, No Combat Operations. Civilian Service Medal, presented from the US Army Corps of Engineers.
Andrew Vidales '74
Served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 20 years from 1978 to 1998. He was Boat Coxswain certified, Boarding Officer certified, Expert - Rifle, Sharpshooter - pistol, numerous citations and awards, participated in the 1980 Muriel Boat Lift (Cuban exodus), participated in the 1991 Haitian Exodus (Aristide fall) and was Honorable Discharge after 20 years of service.
Thomas Shircliff '77
Colonel Tom Shircliff, US Air Force, 1981 – 2001. United Stated Air Force Academy, 1981, BS Mechanical Engineering. St Mary’s University, 1990, MBA. Pilot, 3100 hours; 1981 – 1993. Also served in Air Force Space Command; 1994 – 2001. Commanded multiple organizations operating on-orbit space systems, including Global Positioning System. Currently employed by Lockheed Martin in Orlando, FL, developing international flying training, space, and cyber programs.
Thomas Murphy '78
Served from 1978 through 1987. He was an intelligence officer stationed in Europe involved in counter-terrorist operations.

Served as 1st Lt USMC Served from 1983-91. During Desert Storm Earned Navy Achievement Medal Expert marksman in rifle and pistol.

Was commisioned in 1985 and retired 1 Jan 2013 as a Captain in the US Navy.

Served as a Captain in the US Air Force as a reservist for 9 years.
Commander Monica Rochester ’83 (still actively serving)
Ms. Rochester received her commission into the United States Coast Guard in July 1994 at Coast Guard Reserve Training Center near Yorktown, Virginia and continues to serve on active duty. Ms. Rochester has earned a number of personal military service awards which include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal (5 awards), the Coast Guard Achievement Medal (5 awards), the Coast Guard Commandant's Letter of Commendation (3 awards), Good Conduct Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal (2 awards), the National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), the Global War on Terrorism Medal, and numerous other personal awards and unit citations. Presently, she is assigned to the Department of Homeland Security Headquarters in Washington, DC to assist in establishing national and international policy for preventing the use of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons in terrorist acts.

Served in USAR July, 1987 to April, 1994.
Steve Ramos '85
Col. Steve Ramos, USMCR, Class of 1985. Graduated from The Citadel in 1989 and commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Departed active duty in 1997 and currently serving in the reserves. Served as an infantry officer and judge advocate and has held numerous command and staff billets. Deployed to Iraq in 2004 and participated in the Battle of Fallujah. Graduate of the Reserve Infantry Officer Course, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the Naval War College. Awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Naval Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Combat Action Ribbon.

Adam Tamez '86
Served with the U.S. Army from 1987-1991 and the Army National Guard from 1991-1995. He was deployed to Desert Storm with 3rd Bn. 15th inf of 24th Inf Division 18th Airbourne Corps in 1990. He left the military with the rank of Sergeant.

Served in the 82nd Airborne. He served in Panama and in Desert Storm. He was in the Army for 1 term (4 years).

Served in Operation Enduring Freedom. Member of the Army Reserves for 16 years.
Todd O'Brien '90 (still actively serving)
Served in the USMC Reserves from 1995-1999 and was commissioned in the USMC in December of 1999 and is still on active duty. Major O'Brien's current assignment is with the III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) in Okinawa.

Served in the USAF from May 1999 to May 2009. Served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Awarded National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Three Air Force Achievement medals, Global war on terrorism expeditionary medal, global war on terrorism service medal.
Courtney Tomasz '02
LT Courtney "Carne Asada" Tomasz, USN(Ret) served as an Intelligence Officer in the United States Navy from January 2008 until her retirement in July 2015. She was combat deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and Iraq in 2010 and was awarded the Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the Iraq campaign Medal in addition to the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. She served as the Squadron Aviation Intelligence Officer for VAQ-134 (EA-6B Expeditionary Prowler Squadron) as well as being a plank-owner in VAQ-132 (the first EA-18G Growler Squadron to deploy in the fleet); as the Commander Submarine Group Nine Staff Intelligence Officer and Special Security Officer; and as the DIA Joint Reserve Intelligence Program's Operations Officer at Joint Reserve Intelligence Center, New Orleans. Her individual awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal(2), and The Commander Electronic Attack Wing, Pacific "Intelligence Officer of the Year" Award for 2010. After retiring from the Navy in July 2015, LT Tomasz taught Domestic & International Terrorism as an Adjunct Professor for Tulane University. She now resides with her husband in the Pacific Northwest.
Kerry Glennon '05
Served in the US Army and in November/2009 he was honorably discharged from the United States Army following a tour of duty in Iraq. He was awarded the Purple Heart in a special ceremony at Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
